Ghana is a country in West Africa located on the edge of the Gulf of Guinea. Ghana’s neighboring countries are Côte d’Ivoire to the west, Burkina Faso to the north and Togo to the east. Its capital is the city of Accra. The country is made up of dense tropical forests in the south and savannah in the north. The tropical climate is rainy, mainly in May-June (great rainy season or wintering). The Black Volta, White Volta as well as the Oti and Daka Rivers meet in Ghana to form Lake Volta. The Akosombo Dam, located south of the lake, produces a lot of energy for the country. Founded in 1958, Mole Park (located in the northwest of the country) aimed to protect the flora and fauna of this region. Populations living in the park were relocated in 1971, reducing the human threat to mammals.
